dc.description.abstract | Congenital heart disease is an anomaly of heart arising due to defect in structure or function of heart. Early studies indicate that the congenital heart patient often suffer from malnutrition and this is due to tissue hypoxia and imbalance between energy intake and consumption, so the aim of the present study is to assess the anthropometric, biochemical and dietary profile of congenital heart defect children. Also, to provide an effective nutrition counseling to mothers of congenital heart defect children. The prevalence of malnutrition among children admitted for surgical or catheter-based intervention in pediatric general ward was common. newlineThe study highlighted the prevalence of malnutrition in Congenital heart patients, it showed moderate degree of malnutrition among all the age groups, while assessing the hospitalized children, the nutritional evaluation and an early intervention to nutritional support will bring a positive impact newline | |
