The present research work has been carried out to study the concepts related to the inventory system and apply them for developing models of the inventory in the fuzzy environment. In Chapter one basic concepts related Operations research, its origin and development have been discussed. Chapter two provides a complete review of literature of the various concepts that have been applied in this study like rate of demand, lead time, deterioration, inflation, permissible delay in payment, partial backlogging, Weibull distributed deterioration and demand, fuzzy theory and fuzzy inventory models. Chapter three is focussed on the system of inventory in which the rate of demand is a ramp type function in nature. This model has been developed keeping in view the environment involving shortage. Chapter four deals with a system of inventory in both crisp and fuzzy environment. This system is developed for deteriorating commodities considering the case of backorders of partial nature. Chapter five deals with an economic order quantity model of the inventory system. This model has been developed in no shortage environment. This model has been discussed in both crisp and fuzzy environments. Chapter six deals with a system of inventory in which the rate of demand is a function of ramp type in nature. The rate of production of commodities is finite and also proportional to the rate of demand function of the commodity. Chapter seven focuses on crisp and fuzzy systems of the inventory having the rate of demand function varying with time. There is no deterioration of goods in this model. Chapter eight is based on a system of deteriorating inventory. Here the concept of shortages that are partially backlogged in nature has been used. Chapter nine provides a conclusion to the research work that has been carried out and also the scope for the future work which can be carried out as an extension of this research work. newline
