BiFeO3 possesses antiferromagnetic Neel temperature (TNand#8275;3700C) and high Curie temperature (TCand#8275;8300C). So, here in the present work, with the help of Sol-gel auto combustion method, a pure BFO samples were synthesized and calcinated at three different temperatures i.e., 4000C, 5000C, 6000C named as BFO1, BFO2 and BFO3, respectively. The calcination was done under the vacuum conditions keeping the base pressure at 10-4 Pa. Under different techniques the samples were characterized by using X-ray diffraction, Field emission scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy to study the various structural, morphological properties. newlineX-ray diffraction and rietveld refinement confirmed the rhombohedral structure for all the samples with R3c space group. With increase in temperature the particle size of the samples increased. Around 527 cm-1, Raman analysis displayed the presence of a peak in BFO 3 which was absent in another two samples. Hence, splitting was detected in A1 mode for BFO 1, which could be due to the occurrence of secondary phase as observed in XRD analysis. The study suggests that 6000C is the optimum temperature for the synthesis of bismuth ferrite nanoparticles and carrying the calcination under vacuum conditions has provided the purity to the samples. newlineKeywords:Multiferroic, sol-gel auto-combustion, structural properties, calcination.
