Abstract: This thesis Departure, Initiation, and Return: The Questing Heroes in Amish Tripathi s Shiva Trilogy is a study of the lives of the protagonists Shiva and Sati as a quest, a journey within their souls, and travail into the realms of good and evil in society. Shiva Trilogy comprises the novels The Immortals of Meluha, The Secret of the Nagas, and The Oath of the Vayuputras. The different phases of Shiva and Sati s quest are aligned with the three primary phases Departure, Initiation, and Return proposed by Joseph Campbell, and this forms the central thread of the thesis.Taking cues from Campbell, this study also highlights the implications of the quest for the heroes as well as their immediate society newline
