Abstract: Adolescence is a period in human growth and development that occurs after newlinechildhood and before adulthood from ages 10 to 19 years. It is a period of dynamic newlinebrain development. During this period adolescent learn from the social behavior and newlineenvironmental surroundings of their community. A study on Depression in newlineAdolescents from Urban Slum and Rural Area and Its Influencing Factors was carried newlineon a sample of 600 randomly selected adolescent girls and boysin the age range of 16 newlineto 18 years and studying in std. Xth, XIth and XIIth. In all randomly selected newlinesamples300 samples were belonged to Ambajogai taluka and 300 samples from Latur newlinetaluka. Among that 100 each from Urban, Slum and Rural area with 50 boys and 50 newlinegirls in each area. InLatur taluka remaining 300 samples divided like Ambajogai newlinetaluka.The data pertaining to the study was collected by administering Depression newlineScale by Dr. Karim and Dr. Tiwari 1986 and revised Socio- economic Status Scale of newlineKuppuswami in addition to personally interviewing the sample adolescent girls and newlineboys. Irrespective of residential area 64 percent of adolescents assessed to have low newlinelevel of depression followed by moderate depression level (24%) and high depression newlinelevel (12%). Seventy-Five percent urban Ambajogai adolescent girls and boys newlinereported low depression level 7 percent high and 18 percent moderate depression level newlinewhile in Latur urban area 75 percent were found in low depression level, 20 percent newlinemoderate and 5 percent high depression level. In Ambajogai rural area 25 percent newlinewere recorded moderate depression while 11 percent high and 64 percent low level of newlinedepression. The corresponding percentages of Latur rural area 72 percent were found newlinein low depression level 7 percent high, 21 percent moderate, Twenty-Three percent newlineslum adolescent girls and boys in Ambajogai were found in high depression level, 29 newlinepercent moderate and 48 percent low depression level. In Latur slum area 17 percent newlinewere found in high depression level, 33 percent moderate and 50 percent low newlinedepression
