The non-renewable nature and scarcity of fossil fuels have now become a matter of great concern. Therefore, there is a need to identify some alternative fuels which are renewable in nature and easily available. Non - fossil fuels are capable of substituting partially or wholly the highly emanded petrodiesel. However, the major problems associated with the use of biodiesel are its higher cost, limited availability of seeds, cold flow characteristics and xidation instability. Due to oxidation instability, biodiesel becomes acidic in nature and hence unsolvable glues and residues are formed. This unsolvable glues and residues block the fuel filters. The above problems can be avoided by mixing of antioxidants with biodiesel which improve the oxidation stability and cold flow property because antioxidants contain phenolic compounds. The objective of the present work is to use the two dissimilar fuels such as rubber seed oil and waste plastic oil blended in various proportions on volume basis. The performance, combustion and emission characteristics are investigated on variable compression ratio engine and the results are compared with diesel. The importance of this research work is the complete replacement of diesel with blended oils. The experimental works has been conducted using the fuel blends, different compression ratios, exhaust gas recirculations, injection timings and nozzle opening pressures. The performance parameters such as brake thermal efficiency, brake specific fuel consumption, exhaust gas temperature and the combustion parameters such as rate of heat release, cylinder pressure, ignition delay and cylinder peak pressure are studied. The exhaust gas emissions such as carbon monoxide, unburned hydrocarbon, nitrogen oxides and smoke opacity are investigated newline
