dc.description.abstractMobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is the most widely used and preferred network for low power wireless communication like internet of things, wireless ad hoc networks, vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure communication. Unique features of MANET such as minimal infrastructure requirements, self coordinating, self configuring and selfhealing characteristics makes it more appropriate for various applications such as health care, home automation, agriculture and environmental sensing and surveillance etc. Though MANET is a dynamic network, with wireless nodes or routers and mobile nature, the susceptibility of the nodes to failures caused by power limitations and congestion affects the exchange of information. Hence, Quality of Service (QoS) becomes a demanding factor to be addressed in MANET. QoS depends on the enhancements in coverage and reduction in power consumption in mobile nodes of MANET. Most importantly, Congestion control over the network improves the quality of service in wireless networks. In this thesis, a decision matrix analysis based priority AODV outing protocol (DAM-AODV) is proposed, to identify a prioritized shortest path with node priority value for lowering the risk of packet loss in a congested network. The node priority value is decided by various network factors in the existing protocol that affect the QoS such as power factor, workload factor and bandwidth factor. newline
