Abstract: Acute Myocardial infarction is a life threatening condition. If the patient follows the secondary prevention strategies they could be safe from another episode of myocardial infarction. 5 patients were asked for the lived in experience after the first episode MI. They verbalized their feelings and thoughts. The statements given by the patient shows that they develop loss of confidence, hope. They were fear about disease, future and environment. They felt isolated and don t want others to know about their illness. They are not able to communicate to their relatives and health care people as they like. Patients were completely losing their hope and confidence. They had poor knowledge about M.I. But they were interested to know about prevention of another attack. They were conscious about their health after the episode of M.I. The present study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of secondary prevention strategies among post myocardial infarction patients. Secondary prevention strategies on knowledge of MI, diet to be taken, exercise to be followed, cardiac rehabilitation was taught. Relaxation techniques were taught to get rid off stress. The physiological parameters were assessed during 5th day, after 1 month, after 6 months. post tests were done for the control and study group. In the study group the knowledge was improved and the parameters were normal because of the secondary prevention strategies. The control group were received the same intervention after the study period. CONCLUSION: The finding of the study was found to be distribution of the samples in both groups were homogenous. This study indicated that lived in experience of the patients were verbalized their pain experience, their fear towards family, future, loneliness. The secondary prevention strategies were effective in giving adequate knowledge on myocardial infarction patients to prevent another episode of MI. newline
