Abstract: BACKGROUND: High risk pregnancies affect a significant number of women each year. Approximately 20- 30% of all pregnant women are classified as having high risk pregnancies. A relatively small percentage of high risk obstetric population gives rise to a disproportionately high maternal, perinatal mortality and morbidity. So early identification and appropriate management is the need of the hour to prevent adverse maternal and fetal outcomes. AIM: To assess the effectiveness of Nurse directed high risk interventional package on knowledge, practice and labour outcome among high risk antenatal mothers. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study was conducted using quantitative research approach with experimental design. A total of 298 high risk antenatal mothers who registered at Sir Ivan Stedford Hospital were the samples. Structured interview schedule, 72 hours dietary recall and modified WHO Partograph were the data collection tools. RESULTS: The findings of the study revealed that regarding knowledge, the post test mean knowledge score was 20.11 whereas in the control group the score was 10.42 and the mean differed score for knowledge was 9.69 which inferred that there was a very high statistical significant difference in the experimental group. With regard to practice, the mean difference score was 463.44 for K Cal, 17.07 for protein, 5.95 for fat, 22.53 for carbohydrate, 0.16 for calcium and 7.07 for Iron. Statistically significant correlation was observed between knowledge, practice and labour outcome. Statistically significant association of selected demographic, obstetric and clinical variables with mean differed level of knowledge, practice and with post test level of labour outcome score was identified in the experimental group. CONCLUSION: The study concluded that the Nurse directed high risk interventional package devised by the investigator was an effective interventional strategy in enhancing the knowledge, practice and labour outcome among high risk antenatal mothers.
