Abstract: The use of inorganic nanomaterials as fillers in the preparation of newlinepolymer composites has attracted increasing interest owing to their unique newlineproperties and numerous potential applications in automotive aerospace newlineconstruction and electronic industries fuel cells and electro chromic newlinewindow Presently much attention has been paid in employing newlinenanocomposites for rechargeable lithium batteries As compared with the newlineaqueous batteries the Liion battery leads to an increase of 100 150 on newlinestorage capability of energy per unit weight and volume Nevertheless some newlinedisadvantages arise related to low energy and power density large volume newlinechange on reaction safety and costs The aforesaid shortcomings can be newlinereduced by the application of nanotechnology to the field of rechargeable newlinebatteries newlinePolymer electrolytes exhibit interesting properties like size newlineflexibility transparency light weight feasibility of thin film formation and newlineelasticity The development of a successful solid state lithium battery newlinedepends on the choice of suitable host polymer matrix At ambient newlinetemperature the ionic conductivity of solid polymer electrolyte has not newlinereached an appreciable value and further poor mechanical strength of newlinepolymer hinders the usage of free standing electrolytes Various techniques newlinehave been employed to enhance the conductivity and mechanical strength of newlinepolymer electrolytes at room temperature One such widely used method is newlineto incorporate nanofillers in the polymer matrix The nanofillers suppress the newlinecrystalline nature of polymer and improve the mechanical strength and newlinebinding properties of polymer matrix newline newline
