Abstract: Steganography is the process of hiding data inside multimedia (text, video, audio, image and network protocols) such that it is impossible to distinguish between the cover object that is used to hide the data from the stego object (object with secret data). Since multimedia objects have lot of redundant data, it is most suited as a cover medium. The perceptual content of the cover data remains unaltered in the human eye, as the secret data is encoded in the redundant bits of the cover object. Based on the type of the cover medium used to encode the secret data, steganography has various techniques to hide the secret data. The process of hiding the data is also dependent on the secret data to be hidden inside. The decoded secret data is an image with printed or scene text. This image decoded are generally noisy, low contrast and visually poor-quality images due to the lossy compression technique. The text information present in these compressed images can also have lot of discontinuities which should be enhanced and segmented for recognition of information. This research work aims at development of new steganographic algorithms for encoding an image that contains text information in multimedia, and recognizing the text after decoding the secret image. newlineSteganography is the process of hiding data inside multimedia (text, video, audio, image and network protocols) such that it is impossible to distinguish between the cover object that is used to hide the data from the stego object (object with secret data).
