Abstract: | The main objective of this research is to formulate more practical newlinegeneration scheduling and dispatching problem for minimization of the fuel newlinecost for power generation Subsequently to develop a suitable solution newlineprocedure to optimize the cost of generation expenses three different problem newlineformulations such as Dynamic Economic Dispatch Problem DEDP Unit newlineCommitment Problem UCP and Profit Based Unit Commitment Problem newlinePBUCP have been proposed newlineTo attain more accurate and Unit commitment problem UCP newlineformulation the cost function representation for large generating units with newlinevalve point effects have been identified as most appropriate This cost newlinefunction is represented as a quadratic function added with rectified sinusoid newlinecomponents to model the valve point effects These representations of cost newlinefunction of units are inherently highly nonlinear and further they generate newlinemultiple local minimum points in the cost function In addition the fuel cost newlinefunction of UCP is formulated including the prohibited operating zones This newlineformulation is highly nonlinear and non convex which generates multiple newlinelocal minima points and caused premature convergence of the search newlinemethods newline newline |
