Abstract

The present research under the title Reading skill among the girl students of Government Higher Secondary Schools and Matriculation Schools in Virudhunagar District An empirical study, uses certain relevant activities to develop reading skill. Definition of reading is that reading is the construction of meaning from a printed or written message. Reading is not a passive activity, in which the readers just move their eyes on lines. It is an interactive one in that reader brings his personal knowledge to the text infront of him. The interactivity is triangular, between the reader, the text and the message. The present study on Reading Skill, observation involves direct on the spot examination of language use, learning or training. It is a case study. This study carefully observed few individuals over a period of time. The behaviour observation includes, language production or language learning behaviours. The behaviours are examined, systematically recorded and analysed. newline
