Abstract: | Dc Micro grids are often powered by solar and wind sources which are limited by solar irradiation and wind speed respectively. It becomes difficult to feed the grid demand with inconsistent weather conditions. Generated power can be boosted using simple DC-DC converters which deploy conventional boost techniques using switching and passive elements. Boosting the output voltage is restricted by switching loss seen in the MOSFETs, costly design of inductor and capacitor. Hence, the need of optimum DC-DC converter goes without saying. High performance converters are designed considering the converter efficiency, power density, switching loss, operating frequency, voltage stress, ripple content, duty cycle, safety, EMI and cost Conventional enhanced self-lift and re-list luo converters are first generated classical converters based on voltage lift techniques. Voltage boosting or lifting is realized by these converters using inductor, diode and capacitor. Output voltage can be lifted further by increasing the number of passive components which naturally results in increasing cost and reduced efficiency. Modified enhanced self-lift and re-lift topologies ensure the trade-off is well balanced resulting in design of efficient DC-DC converters to suit the application. The proposed topologies deliver higher voltage lift with reduced number of components compared to conventional topologies. Other design parameters are carefully considered ensuring continuous current operation, reduced switching loss, low ripple content and increased efficiency with optimal cost. newline |
