Compression Ignition CI engines are widely used in the automobile newlinesector transportation industrial and agricultural applications because of their newlinehigh pulling power reliability durability and low operating cost This leads to depletion of fossil fuels and increasing the demand of petroleum derived fuel newlineTherefore there is an urgent need for the scientists and the researchers to find newlineout some alternative fuel and it should be a substitute for the highly demanded newlinepetroleum derived fuel either partially or wholly One of the best option for newlinealternate to petroleum derived fuel is the biodiesel which will meet the present demand and decrease the environmental issues As in India the vegetable oil like castor seed oil and pumpkin oil are available abundance which can be converted to biodiesel Exhaustive studies for the preparation of castor seed oil methyl ester CME and Pumpkin Oil Methyl Ester PME have been done A single cylinder tangentially vertical TV1 water cooled direct injection DI diesel engine developing a power output of 5 2 kW at 1500 rpm is used for experiments Base date is generated with diesel Subsequently B25 B50 B75 and B100 blends are used In first phase the various experiments such as CME and PME blended with diesel at different proportions neat biodiesel and diesel experiment have been conducted with 250 bar nozzle opening pressure and various injection timings of 19° 20° 21° and 22°bTDC The results shows that the B25 with 20° bTDC are found to be suitable to have better results in terms of newlineperformance and reduction in emission except oxides of nitrogen NOx newline newline
