Abstract: There were totally eligible taken up for the study. The age group was from 34 to 80 yrs with a mean age of 56 yrs. There were 84 female patients. The mean duration of pain was for about 15.8 months. The height of the patients ranged from 130 cm to 175 cm with a mean height of 153 cm. The weight of the patients was from 37 kg to 97 kg, with the mean weight of 65 kg. BMl was found to be between 17 to 41 with a mean BM1 of 27.7. There were 10 patients in small frame, 48 patients in medium frame and 59 patients in large scale. The mean LDFA in right knee was 84.9 degree and left knee was 83.4 degree. The mean MPTA in right knee was 85.6 degree and left knee was 86 degree. The mean neck shaft angle in right hip was 133.5 degree and left hip was 135 degree. The Kellgien Lawrence radiological grading of osteoarthritis was done. There were 68 patients in grade III and I9 patients in grade IV for the right knee. There were 58 in grade Ill and 39 in grade IV for left knee. The BMI was more in females when compared to males. The mean BM1 for females was 28.55 which was significantly more than males which was 25.64. Females had larger frame size when compared to the males. Females presented more often at a lower age with painful knee than their male counterpart. Frame and BMI are not good predictors to determine the functional ability like squatting. The group of patients in the study who came with knee pain was from relatively younger age bracket which meant osteoarthritis affected individuals at an earlier age. Female patients were more often affected by osteoarthritis and they presented at a younger age group and the degree of involvement was also more severe and 13M1 correlate significantly with the radiological severity of the knee joint. Radiological grading and the magnitude of deformity does not correlate well with the levels of physical activity possible by the patients. The treatment modality must not be based solely on the radiological grading of the knee joint and the level of the deformity.
