Abstract: | The wireless network nodes operate under resource constraints and do not offer a continuous power supply most of the times. The nodes present in wireless networks are limited with processing capability, storage and power. But still these kinds of systems are highly demanded systems in both critical and noncritical real time activities. In this thesis, the energy consumption issue occurring in Delay Tolerant Networks (DTN), Mobile Adhoc Networks (MANETs) and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) have been addressed and the same has been resolved by implementing the proposed energy efficient schemes. The experimental results proved that the proposed energy efficient schemes outperform existing schemes by reducing delay, packet loss and uncertainty. The first research work addresses the problems occurring due to intermittent links present in DTN which is an interconnected network aimed to process communication successfully over long distances. DTN lacks in having the complete end to end path or route, between source and destination nodes at many instances during packet transmission. Existing approaches depends on redundant copies or multi copies of packet creation in DTN for performing data transmission for achieving better packet delivery ratio. Though, many of the existing packet transmission approaches sustain overhead, the communication cost incurred by these existing schemes during the packet reception is very expensive. Therefore, this creates a space for presenting an optimal path routing scheme that overcomes the drawbacks identified in many of the existing approaches. The proposed and implemented optimal path scheme minimizes the packet loss and increases the transmission rate during the communication. Also, this proposed technique implements utility based routing to match the DTN requirements, and it can find the longer active path between a source node and destination node newline |
