The cement industry plays significantly a major role in the economic growth and development of any country. For the year 2017/18, 4200 Million tonnes of cement were produced globally, in which India was contributed to 290 Million tonnes from 575 cement industries located across India. The production of cement clinker is highly expensive and ecologically and environmentally harmful due to hazardous emissions of CO2, NOx and SOx. In view of this, several supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) such as fly ash, ground granular blast furnace slag (GGBFS), metakaolin, etc. have been developed and are being used in partial replacement of cement. Still, there is a need to develop some more SCMs to meet the increased demand. One of the SCMs is Sugar Cane Bagasse Ash (SCBA), which is a waste product obtained from sugar industries, has pozzolanic nature. For the past five years, on an average, 99 Million tonnes of SCBA was produced globally per annum and India is contributed to 21 Million tonnes per annum. The prime motivation for present work is the investigation carried out on mortar / concrete incorporated with SCBA was found to be very limited. Literature review has been carried out on various aspects of SCBA properties, SCBA processing techniques and use of SCBA in cement as well as in morta newline
