Abstract: Signal processing and communication plays a vital role in the field Engineering. Signal processing is quite important and an evident tool in engineering that has a variety of applications including audio and speechprocessing, radar signal processing, biosignal processing and so on. Biological signal analysis deals with analyzing signals generated by various physiological processes in the human body. The most commonly encountered biological signals are electrical activity of the heart, brain and muscles. The biosignals produced in the body are used for the identification of pathological conditions of the human body. Transmission or acquisition of signals is often being corrupted by various noises that are present in the atmosphere. Generally, background noises present in the atmosphere degrade the quality of the speech and signal transmitting systems. Be it a biosignal or a speech signal, both of them suffer from the degradation of the signal quality when it undergoes any disturbance. Hence it is of much importance to cancel the noises present , and thereby improving the quality of the system. Adaptive Noise Cancellation (ANC) is an alternative technique of estimating signals corrupted by additive noise or interference. Various adaptive filtering techniques are proposed by researchers to cancel the noises that are predominant in the desired signal. Adaptive filters are designed with various architectures and the expected outcome of the study Is to obtain noise-free signal from the background noises, thus improving the signal quality. Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) implementation of adaptive filters for noise cancellation application is still challenging and relatively a wider topic of research. newline
