Abstract: Self compacting mortars are achieving greater heights in the construction industry due to their remarkable characteristics due to their advantages over conventional concrete. Self compacting mortars can easily occupy the spaces within the reinforcements without the need for any external vibrating methods. The use of self compacting mortars in several structural applications have been trending these days due to their high fluidity and cohesive nature which enables the mortar to be placed under their own weight without an occurrence of segregation or bleeding. The main drawback associated with the self compacting mortars is a high cost associated with the ingredients used in the production of mortars due to the requirement of huge amounts of superplasticizers to reduce water/binder ratio to bring self compact able characteristic. Hence, it is required to reduce the cost of production of self compacting mortars by using certain additives and materials that are locally and cheaply available as binder/fine aggregate replacements. The present study attempts to reduce the cost of river sand as fine aggregate by replacing partially by glass powder to produce eco-friendly mortar. The basic ideology behind the use of glass powder as fine aggregate in the present study is based on increasing demands of fine aggregate which has led to excessive quarrying of river sand leading to depletion of natural resources. Industries and industrial processes leave considerable quantities of waste glass causing environmental problems. Apart from the disposal problems glass powders also possess several good characteristics to be used as fine aggregate replacement. Moreover, the fineness of glass powders helps in increasing the powder ratio of self compacting mortars thereby improving the fluidity and density of the mortar through their filling capacity. This research aims at combining the effects of nano-silica and glass powder on the properties of self compacting mortar at normal and at higher temperatures newline
