Abstract: | Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs) have been well accepted by structural, automotive, aviation, aerospace, marine and defence applications because of their unique properties which are not possessed by the constituent phases and weight reduction is of utmost priority such as transportation in particular surface or air transportation sectors. The primary aim of manufacturing composites is to improve the performance characteristics in addition to the properties already well-known at present. Most of the Engineering applications by the human race those are in need of a material by means of extraordinary mixture of property that cannot be fulfilled by the conventional metal alloys, ceramics and polymers. It is particularly truthful for the materials which are necessary for aerospace, structural in addition to transportation applications. The significant instance is aircraft engineering demand for structural materials to contain a low mass at the same time strong, rigid yet shock resistant, and so on. Commonly, materials together with high strength, high density, in addition to raising the strength or stiffness following the minimising of impact strength is in demand. Presently all engineering fields are looking for superior quality of materials. Most of the aluminium alloy products are of low weight and high strength as such these commonly used in engineering field except where in high-quality resistance to wear and in partial or boundary in lubrication circumstances. Evaluation of Aluminum based Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs) shows an especially valuable growth in the field of innovative materials for higher performance tribological field. newline |
