Abstract: | The software industry is one of the important and fast growing sectors in this corporate world. It provides great employment opportunities for young graduates. The software industry plays a major role in the contribution towards the economic growth of the country. The software industry provides better salary to their employees based on their skill sets and performance. To increase their salary, the software employees are using their utmost effort to working hard both in physical and mental without concentrating on their health. Due to more physical and mental work, the employees are getting affected with various occupational health problems. It s the responsibility of software industry as well as employees to take care of their physical and mental health. The better facilities offered to their employees, periodic health check up, attention towards environmental related issues and ergonomics are few key areas where the software industry can focus on to improve the health of their employees. By reviewing these conditions, the researcher decided to focus on the occupational health problems of software industry of Tamil Nadu with the following objectives. · To analyze the awareness of occupational health problems among software professionals. · To identify the physiological problems of software professionals. · To examine the psychological problems of software professionals. · To evaluate the role of ergonomics in occupational health problems.
