Mild steel has been used in several industrial applications due to the consideration of economic factors However due to the low hardness and severe wear transition it is restricted in friction wear applications So several researchers reported the improvement of friction and wear property of mild steel through various surface modification techniques Among the various surface modification techniques electroless Ni P coating finds a prominent place for the friction wear applications due to its better hardness and lubricity Three types of matrix or coatings namely nickel phosphorus nickel boron and copper phosphorus was used in the recent years in the electroless coating process Many researchers were focused on improving the friction wear property of these matrixes by reinforcing second phase particles like CNTs MoS2 etc Solubility of second phase particles could have a huge impact on the phase structure surface morphology and hardness of the coatings Not much work reported the solubility of the second phase particles in Electroless Ni P coating Hence considering the importance of the solubility of second phase particles this research work was focused on the soluble P CaCO3 and CaBr2 in Ni P matrix and its role on the friction wear behaviour Calcium carbonate is an abundantly distributed ceramic material in the Earth crust 5 exists in the form of limestone marbles caves and in the shells of marine organisms like pearls corals seashells CaCO3 was also used for removing metal ions like Cr Pb Zn Cu and Cd newline
