The electrical energy plays a crucial role in the daily routine of human beings as well as industry The conventional sources of the energy may not be sufficient to satisfy all the demands and so the deficit is met by the renewable energy sources like solar wind ocean etc Among all the sources of renewable energy solar is mostly preferred since it is available in plenty and it is the clean source of energy The available direct current from solar energy is converted into alternating current using the conventional 2 level or 3 level inverter The unwanted harmonics are also generated along with the useful output voltage By increasing the number of levels or adopting suitable switching technique of Pulse Width Modulation PWM the harmonics are reduced The Multilevel Inverter MLI is preferred for medium voltage and high power applications Amongst the various types of MLI the diode clamped inverter flying capacitor inverter and H bridge inverter the H bridge is opted since it involves only a few components The photovoltaic panels satisfy the requirement of more number of separate dc sources As per the IEEE standards 519 1992 Total Harmonic Distortion THD of an inverter must be within the permissible limit of 5 and the individual harmonic distortion less than 3 The output voltage of MLI is produced using the Fourier series Based on quarter wave symmetry and Selective Harmonic Elimination technique the equations are reduced and solutions are obtained using Newton Raphson method These solutions are used to trigger the switching devices of the inverter newline
