This research work proposed the application of evolutionary multi objective optimization technique to Power Take off gear box design. A case study is undertaken with an existing Power Take off gear box used in Tatra trucks (herein after referred to as and#8215;existing PTO gear box ), which consists of two stages; a spiral bevel gear pair in the first stage and a newlineplanetary gear train in the second stage. The goal of this research is to optimize the design of a PTO gearbox, used in heavy trucks, and also to develop an improved NSGA II newlinealgorithm to enhance the performance of the original NSGA II. A Power Take-Off (PTO) is a device that is usually installed on Commercial vehicle (truck), that can be used to provide power to an attachment or separate system (Hydraulic or mechanical device). It is designed to be easily connected and disconnected. The power take-off allows drawing energy from the engine (usually through the gearbox). The PTO is a method of transferring high power and torque from the engine (usually via the transmission) of trucks. newline newline
