Abstract: | This experimental study was conducted on knowledge and attitude of PCOS among 300 adolescent girls in selected colleges at Thanjavur District. Simple random sampling technique and study participants were selected by lottery method.Modified High-Risk Assessment Questionnaire was used to assess the prevalence of PCOS. Structured tools were used to collect the data from the adolescent girls. newlinePCOS risk status in the control group,100% of adolescent girls had Moderate risks.In the experimental group5.3% of girls had high risks and newline94.7% of adolescent girls had Moderate risks.In control group, the level of knowledge among adolescent girls with PCOS before Structured Teaching Programme (STP) 96.7% of adolescent girls had inadequate knowledge and 3.3% of adolescent girls had moderately adequate knowledge. After the STP85.3% of adolescent girls had in adequate knowledge and14.7% of adolescent girls had newlinemoderately adequate knowledge. In experimental group, adolescent girlsbefore the STP, 97.3% of adolescent girls had inadequate knowledge and 2.7% of adolescent girls had moderately adequate knowledge. After the STP,15.3% of adolescent girls had adequate knowledge and 84% of adolescent girls had moderately adequate knowledge and 0.7% of adolescent girls had inadequate knowledge.In this study, results showed that there was an association found between the Subject group, religion with PCOS risk status in the control group andmothers educationwith the PCOS risk status among the experimental group. Thereis an association between mothers education with level of knowledge in controlgroup and religion with level of knowledge in experimental group. In respect ofexperimental group between the level of attitude with income.The results of the co-efficient correlation analysis revealed that there was a positive relationship betweenthelevelofknowledgeandattitudeofadolescentgirlswithPCOS. newlineSTP on PCOS among adolescent girls was effective. newline |
