Abstract: | This thesis is about integrating ICT (Information and Communication newlineTechnology) into EFL Yemeni school/college classrooms. The problem that the thesis newlineattempts to solve is this: a large number of schools and colleges in Yemen do not newlineintegrate ICT into EFL classrooms. This is a major problem because it contributes to newlineweakness of Yemeni students at the English language (the use of traditional teaching newlinemethods instead of ICT is a main factor). Moreover, Yemeni students, because ICT is not newlineintegrated into Yemeni EFL classrooms, do not have chances for employment in today s newlinetwenty-first century market which sees ICT as a must for employment. newlineThus, the thesis is significant for a number of reasons. First, it adds to the newlineliterature of ELT and ICT in general. Second, based on the literature review presented in newlinethe second chapter, there is a huge number of works on ICT and its effects on English newlinelanguage learning and teaching, but there is no academic work yet on the use of ICT in newlineYemen. This is the first academic work on ICT in Yemen; this thesis fills this gap in newlineELT. Furthermore, this thesis strongly suggests to decision makers that ICT should be newlineintegrated into the syllabus of ELT in Yemen to improve the learning and teaching of newlineEnglish in the future. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to explore the Yemeni newlineteachers attitudes toward the integration of ICT EFL classrooms. A number of other newlineobjectives aim to examine the factors that may have influence on teachers attitudes. newlineFor this purpose, the thesis is composed of five chapters. The first chapter newlineintroduces the topic of the thesis (ICT and EFL in Yemen) and gives an overview of the newlineresearch problem, purpose, objectives, hypotheses, questions, significance, rationale, and newlinelimitations with definitions of the study. newlineChapter Two is a literature review that consists of two sections: the first reviews newlinethe main theories as well as previous studies on ICT and EFL in general. The Second newlinepresents a critical review of the most relevant similar studies on ICT in th |
