An Evaluative Study of Information Services in Agriculture University Libraries of Uttar Pradesh

Abstract

University libraries are higher academic centers and agriculture universities newlineare the backbone of a nation which motivate the agricultural scientists newlinefor the better development in India. Libraries are service provider for newlineagricultural information. The emergence of new information communication newlinetechnology has changed the entire information environment where has been newlinedispersed through internet, CD-ROM, fax, e-mail, hypertext, hypermedia, newlinesubject gateways, portals, blogs, social networking sites. newlineICAR has playing an important role in the development of agriculture newlineuniversity libraries and supporting the networking program like AGRONET, newlineAGRIS etc. for providing better library services in agriculture universities. newlineAgricultural university libraries are joining hands with other libraries for sharing newlinetheir resources through consortia. newlineAgricultural universities of U.P. have made many efforts in the development of newlineteaching and learning, enhancing the competitiveness of staff, providing newlineadequate facilities in research, to develop co-ordination and cooperation newlineamong libraries etc. newlineHowever, this study of information services in agricultural university libraries of newlineUttar Pradesh has been divided in 9 chapters. Chapter 1 is introduction newlinedealing with historical background of agricultural university libraries, objective newlineof the study, research methodology and hypothesis. Chapter 2 deals with newlinereview of Literature, in which more than 70 articles and books are reviewed. newlineChapter 3 discussed research methodology, techniques and hypothesis newlineapplied in this study. Chapter 4 deals with organizational profile of agriculture newlineuniversity libraries. Chapter 5 discusses current awareness service and its newlineexploration in agriculture research, role of ICAR. Chapter 6 deals with newlineexploring SDI in the field of agricultural information resources, and collection newlinemanagement.
