Abstract: | Education is one of the most essential tools for any modern nation to achieve social, newlineeconomic and political objectives for meaningful national development. The newlineintrinsic intellectual dynamism, resourcefulness and the moral strength of the nation newlineis reflected in the quality of higher education, which provides political, intellectual, newlinescientific and professional leadership. The progress of nation, such as economic and newlinesocial development of the people, welfare and security of the life of human beings, newlinescientific and technological basis of the world are dependent on the quality of higher newlineeducation provided by the Universities of a Nation. newlineIn simple words, University contributes immensely in the growth of human newlineresources. It is the centre of learning for higher education which imparts instruction newlineat graduate, post-graduate levels and provides facilities and infrastructure for newlineresearch and specialization. newline1.1. Basic Concepts and Definitions newlineA University is an institution of higher education and research, which grants newlineacademic degrees in a variety of subjects. A University provides both undergraduate newlineeducation and postgraduate education. The word university is derived from the Latin newline universitas magistrorum et scholarium , roughly meaning community of teachers newlineand scholars. (1) newlineThe original Latin word universitas , first used in a time of renewed interest in newlineclassical Greek and Roman tradition, tried to reflect this feature of the Academy of newlinePlato (established 385BC). The original Latin word referred to places of Learning in newlineEurope, where the use of Latin was prevalent.
