Abstract: Precast technology was preferred worldwide for their high quality structural elements, less construction time and saving in overall cost of the project. Due to increase in population growth and availability of limited space in India has demanded faster construction of structures which can be satisfied by the precast concrete construction. Earthquake could damage the whole structure if it is not properly designed in high seismic regions. The precast concrete structures have not performed well in past earthquakes due to failure of connection and inadequate diaphragm action between the structural elements. When the structure was subjected to lateral loading, the performance of connection plays a crucial role in the overall behaviour of the structure. The construction of precast structures falls into two categories of connection systems such as Equivalent monolithic system and Jointed systems . In jointed systems, the precast structural elements are connected by using mechanical devices such as bolts, nuts, steel angles, plates etc. The connection between the newlineprecast elements in equivalent monolithic system emulated the cast-in place construction which was known as wet connection. Lot of research works has been done on precast connection between different structural members using dowel bars. The existing databases of tested specimen of precast walldiaphragm connection detailing are very limited and only few numerical studies on precast connections have been reported till date. There are no particular guidelines available in the Indian Codes of practices for the detailing between precast structural wall-diaphragm connections. newline newline
