dc.description.abstractnewline In the present work different functional groups of side arm (SA) rigid two dimensional donor-acceptor poly(arylene ethynylene) (PAE) conjugated polymers (CPs) were synthesized using palladium (0) catalyzed Heck-Sonogashira cross coupling reaction methodology. In this work, the electron deficient units (Acceptor-A) of 1,4-diethynyl-2-(phenylethynyl)benzene possess nine different type of functional groups attached in the 2-(phenylethynyl), such as carbonyl series of thiophene, 3,4-dimethoxyphenyl, 3,4-difluorophenyl, triphenylamine groups of and#945;, and#946;- unsaturated ketone and acetyl group are attached with 1,4-diethynyl-2-(phenylethynyl)benzene have been synthesized and characterized. Similarly nitrile series of acetonitrile, thiophene acrylonitrile, 3,4-bimethoxyphenyl acrylonitrile and 3,4-bifluorophenyl acrylonitrile have been synthesized and characterized. The electron withdrawing tendency of acceptor groups presented in the acceptor series react with the electron releasing (Donor-D) nature of di-iodo substituted bis-octyloxy benzene, bis-dodecyloxy benzene and 9,9 -bis-octylfluorene monomers with stoichiometric manner. The SA of acceptor unit, donor dialkoxy unit and conformational change influence the molecular level changes due to the presence of acetylene (triple bond), nitrile, carbonyl and different alkoxy groups of donor-acceptor (D-A) nature of the SA-PAE CPs series. newline newline
