Abstract: | The present study entitiled Phytochemical and pharmacological Investigations of Solidago canadensis L. revealed the presence of Cinnamoyl Quinic Acid as one of the therapeutically active component along with the other constituents exhibiting a potential role of the plant extracts in the management and treatment of cancer and other associated illness like pain, infection, immune-compromisation etc. newlineThe plant was subjected to estimation of various physico-chemical constants, powder analysis, fluorescence analysis, and inorganic mineral analysis which enlightens the authenticity and quality of the herb in powdered form which may serve as a standard for future relevance in identification and establishing standards of the plant. newlineMoreover, Presence of sodium, potassium, magnesium etc. was confirmed and their quantification was evaluated by employing flame photometry and atomic absorption spectrometry which throwed light on the nutritional potential of the plant. newlineSolidago canadensis L. revealed the anti-cancer, analgesic, anti-infective and anti - anthelmintic activities of the plant. Moreover, the pharmacognostical parameters serve as a valuable tool in the identification of the plant in powder form. Hence it may be concluded that the plant Solidago canadensis L. was found to exhibit anti-cancer property and ability to get managed with other co-exsisting problems associated with cancer Viz., pain and infection. Similarly, the pharmacognostical identity reported on the plant, may serve as a typical tool in identification and standardisation of the plant. Moreover the isolated compound Cinnamoyl Quinic Acid was evidenced to have potential activity against human cell lines in vitro. Further focus on research with Cinnamoyl Quinic Acid in terms of in vivo study may prove it to be an ideal drug for consideration, to be employed as phyto-medicine in the management of cancer. newline newline |
