dc.description.abstractTwo active and ongoing World Bank assisted projects in the state of Punjab newline(between 2012 to 2018), viz. Punjab Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project and Punjab State Road Sector Project were chosen for in-depth analysis in the study. Thus, the study assesses the genesis and the role of World Bank (India Office) in infrastructural development of Punjab in general and critically analyzed the implementation, last mile delivery, people s participation in project implementation and the perceptions of the beneficiaries of both the projects. The successful models of the rural water supply and sanitation project in mobilising people s participation, and of implementing Output and Performance Linked Road Contracting System (OPRC) by road sector project which can be replicated in other projects in the respective two sectors, the urgent need to establish Road Maintenance Fund by Government of Punjab are significant findings of the study. newline newline
