Abstract: The term Emotion delivers plethora of connotations and it tends to create many newlinevicissitudes in the day today life of human beings. According to Aristotle the problem newlineis not with the emotionality, but with appropriateness of emotions and its expressions . Students of this present era are more sensitive compared to the past due to the fact that they are exposed to several emotional state of mind in their real life. It is analysed that the students in their adolescence stage need some medium to express their mental state and refine their emotion for which they need to be trained to win their state of mind to lead a stress free life and to succeed in their personal and professional lives. This research is an attempt to edify emotive writing strategy to adolescent students through poems and short stories. To instruct the target learners with emotive writing, a module based on Genre - Based Approach which consists of ten activities is designed. Pre-test and post-test are conducted and evaluation is done using framed rubrics. The target learners for the present research are chosen from those pursuing first year Under Graduation (UG) from two Arts and Science colleges and two Engineering colleges in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu, India. The research tool used for the study is the Bar-On s Emotional Intelligence Inventory Questionnaries. The questionnarie also has the details pertaining to the personal profile of the students and social background of the parents which is very useful for understanding the sociology variables of the study. Data analysis is done using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and the results are newlineanalysed and discussed. Descripitive and differential analyses are used for the purpose of data analysis.The investigation finds that there is a significant relationship between emotive writing and different variables like gender,medium of institution, board of study, stream of study,first generation learners and graduates and other sociological factors.
