Abstract: | The indigenous people are vulnerable to climate change due to their close affinity with the nature. The traditional knowledge system possessed by the indigenous people has newlinebeen helping to deal with many crises may also provide solution to deal with the climate change. This study aims to document the understanding of indigenous people of Kanhachatti, Dist. Jharkhand in relation climate change. As the District being one of the newlinemost vulnerable to the change as per the available literatures. The study framed three objectives, i) To document the understanding of climate change from the Indigenous newlineperspective, ii) To collect oral narratives to understand, how Indigenous people have experienced the impact of climate change on their traditional livelihood and iii) To document the traditional knowledge and practices followed in agriculture and forest newlinebased livelihood as an adaptive mechanism to combat the impacts of climate change. I newlineselected four villages from Block Kanhachatti, Dist Chatra, Jharkhand for field research. Total 213 respondents were collected taking 10 each under man and woman category from age group 21-40, 41-60 and above 60. The information collected was analyzed and discussed in five chapters. Major findings of the study noted that the Indigenous people newlineof the study area have observed the changes in nature. Indigenous people conclude that the regular disruption and changes in the occurrence of natural events and associated agricultural activities signifies the changing behavior of the Nature. |
