Abstract: The present study aims to investigate the experience, contribution and opinion of newlinerespective digital repositories developed in special libraries especially in Uttar Pradesh newlineand Delhi. Digital preservation of information is an urgent need in the present scenario as newlineit facilitates multiple accesses to information, long term preservation for future use and newlineprovides remote access to scholarly research work through open access. Ranganathan s newline5th law of library science Library is a growing organism emphasizes on continuous newlinegrowth of libraries. For this purpose libraries are creating digital collections with the help newlineof latest technologies and disseminate their collection via digital medium among users. newlineOne of the latest examples is the digital repositories or institutional repositories. Digital newlinerepositories are concerned with collecting, managing, preserving and disseminating the newlineintellectual output of an institution in digital form especially in case of research newlineinstitution to enhance the process of scholarly communication. After an exhaustive newlinesearch, six special libraries three from Uttar Pradesh and three from Delhi have been newlineidentified those were set up by government of India and identified as institutions of newlinenational importance. This study examines special libraries under studies regarding newlinemethods of digital conversion of documents, types of documents to be digitized, newlinechallenges and issues libraries face in the process of digitization of documents, budgetary newlineprovisions for digitization, and manpower status involved in digitization of information, newlineetc. Hypotheses have been tested and findings of the study have been analyzed by using newlinesuitable statistical methods and presented through graphs and diagrams. newlinePresent study has been divided into seven chapters. Chapters-1 Introduction: aims newlineto bring out audience an overview and nature of research study undertaken.
