Abstract: | Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycle associated with newlineadvancing age. It is one of the most important life stages of women. It occurs mostly newlinearound 48-55 years of age. The objectives of the study is to newlinedetermine the level of stress and self esteem during pre and post test newlineamong control and interventional group of menopausal women, to evaluate the effectiveness of menopausal counselling on the level of stress, to and self esteem among menopausal women, to correlate the level of post test stress and self esteem among menopausal women and to find out association between the level of pre test stress and self esteem with socio demographic and clinical variables. Conclusion: Intervention module (menopausal counselling) has effective impact over the level of stress and self esteem among the menopausal women. Respondents expressed that they were relaxed and felt calm after the intervention. The respondents self esteem were high when stress became low. So it is concluded that menopausal counselling is an effective intervention to reduce stress and improve self esteem of the respondent. Recommendations: A comparative study could be carried out to explore the intervention adapted by rural and urban people. A qualitative study could be carried out to explore in depth each of menopausal problems and ways to manage it. newlineA comparative study could be done to assess the perception of menopausal problem among those who underwent a surgical menopause compared to those who had a natural menopause. A study could be conducted to find out the attitude of family members towards menopause. newline newline newline |
