Abstract: The Ph.D. Thesis entitled SYNTHESIS AND BIOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF FUNCTIONALIZED HETEROCYCLIC MOLECULES is dividedinto five chapters. The thesis designed with the newer and efficient synthetic strategies for the biologically important heterocyclic moieties having 3-(het)arylisocoumarinderivatives, indolofuroquinoxalines, benzothiazole, indoles and their fused analogues. Brief introduction is given in the chapter 1 on heterocyclic compounds as well as their biological importance. Chapter 2 is made with the Ultrasound assisted synthesis of 3-(het)arylisocoumarin derivativesand their invitro pharmacological evaluation. Chapter 3 is made with Lemon juice mediated reaction under ultrasound irradiation: synthesis of indolofuroquinoxalines as potential anticancer agents. Chapter 4 is designed with the Synthesis and antibacterial activity of benzothiazole analogues. Chapter 5 consists of anultrasound-based approach for the synthesis of indoles under Pd/C catalysis. newline
