dc.description.abstractTeaching is a social phenomenon whereas learning is a newlinepsychological phenomenon. It is difficult to define the term teaching as a newlineseries of situations such as form of government, form of society and newlinesocial philosophy affect it. Thus, the teaching behaviour has several newlinedimensions. These teaching behaviour can be broadly classified under newlinethree categories newline(1) Authoritarian teaching behaviour, newline(2) Democratic teaching behaviour, and newline(3) Laissez faire teaching behaviour newline(1) Authoritarian Teaching Behaviour newlineIn this type of teaching behaviour, the teacher exercises a firm newlinecentralized control. He directs every action of his students. He does all newlinethe planning for the class and gives all the directions. He tells the students newlinewhat to think as well as what to do. He thinks and regards himself as the newlineonly active agent in teaching and considers students passive listeners of newlineinstruction and information. newlineH.C. Morrison (1934) has defined teaching according to newlineauthoritarian model of behaviour: newline Teaching is an intimate contact between a more mature newlinepersonality and a less mature which is designed to further the education newlineof the latter .1 The teacher has the primary place and student has the newlinesecondary place in the authoritarian teaching behaviour. There is no scope of criticism in this newlinetype of teaching, even a teacher can teach wrong things to the students. newlineThus, the teaching behaviour is influenced by the authoritarian form of newlinegovernment newline(2) Democratic Teaching Behaviour newlineTeaching in the democratic form of government is based on newline Human relations theory of organization-relationship centered .
