Abstract: This thesis is primarily a postcolonial theoretical project and it engages specifically with the Subaltern Studies Collective as a significant territory of postcolonial theorisation on subjectivity and politics. It seeks to revisit the Subaltern Studies project in the light of the new and emergent forms of subalternity, marginality and precarity in the current socio-economic and cultural conjuncture in order to investigate how we can re-define/ re-conceptualise the subaltern today. newline
