dc.description.abstract: The infection and spread of multidrug resistant-tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is due to mutations in genes or promoter region of the genes activating the drug or encoding the drug targets in Mycobacterium tuberculosis and this led to amplification and spread of MDR-TB in the community. The objective of this study is to identify and characterize the most common gene mutations occurring in rifampicin and isoniazid resistant TB by using a rapid molecular technique the First-line Line Probe Assay (LPA) Geno Type MTBDRplus VER 2.0 for identifying types of rifampicin and isoniazid resistance patterns along with the common mutations associated with them among MDR-TB cases in the state of Meghalaya.
