dc.description.abstractIntroduction newlineNewborn health and survival depend on the care given to the newborn, although newborn care is a very essential element in reducing child mortality, it often receives less than optimum attention. The primary health care services to rural areas of India are chiefly provided by Sub-Centre s (SC). SC is the most vital peripheral contact point between the health system and the community. The multipurpose health workers at the SC have to take care of all the basic health needs of the rural population and thus become back-bone of the public health delivery system. These health workers (HW) are more accessible and acceptable to the clients in their community and thus can improve the overall coverage and quality of health services. Hence it is very important to study whether they are capable of delivering the required services. The present study was conducted in IPP VIII Maternity and Health centre, Badarpur, New Delhi and Government dispensary, Tuglakabad, New Delhi, with the objectives To develop structured training programme for ASHA workers on new born care based on ASHA module 7 Skills that saves lives to compare the practices of ASHA workers with regard to new born care before and after the administration of structured training programme, to determine the association between the practice scores and the selected demographic data i.e. age, years of experience and education, to assess the acceptability of ASHA workers about training programme regarding new born care. The CIPP model was used to guide the research process. newlineMethodology newlineResearch approach selected for the study was quantitative approach with one group pre test post test design. Random sampling technique was used for selection of ASHA workers for evaluating the practices. A training programme was developed by the researcher for the ASHA workers and administered to the ASHA workers.
