Abstract: French is spoken worldwide and being able to speak in French is one of the required newlineskills for the employment opportunities in the post-globalization India. There newlineare personal benefits to those who choose learning French apart from professional benefits, due to its cultural richness. The purpose of this study is to investigate the ways in which French teaching and learning evolved as a foreign language in technical institutions within a post-colonial society like India in the era of post-globalization. This research maps out the extent and dynamics of the changes that have come to occur in French language teaching and learning within the post-colonial India. The need for this research study is to see if the professionals well-versed in French are in great demand in the corporate world, to investigate the predominant methodologies followed by the French language teachers in the technical institutions, to study the reasons behind choosing French among other languages and to understand the objectives of Indian students learning French and their preferred methodologies. Based on the outcome, as per the learners preferences, a post-colonial approach of teaching and learning French was proposed and its effectiveness was tested. This research study would suggest a few effective teaching styles for technical students learning French. This study would help the teachers in the French language classes to understand the learning styles of the learners and choose accordingly their teaching styles for effective classroom transaction. The implications of the findings identify some of newlinethe topics for further research in the area newline newline
