Abstract: | The digital world moves healthcare and medicine into future advances of scientific technologies. These technologies will emerge as fundamental potential changes in modern patient safety systems. One of the examples of interest is closed-loop anesthesia delivery system. Before the advancement of the automatic drug delivery system, the anesthesia procedure was administrated manually. To explore and implement safer injection of anesthesia new advancement of automated closed -loop anesthesia delivery system is introduced. It is an automatic system which is capable of administering anesthesia procedure more safely than the manual infusion procedures. There are many problems involved during these procedures. The system is suffering from many limitations like patient variability, where the system behaves uniquely to all patients; possibility of occurring adverse events and errors; this system is even not supporting the patient safety features, it is not commercially acceptable by the medical regular bodies and the system could not sense the physical status of the patient. Another major challenge of this medicine is the infusion of dosage levels of overdose; it leads to the undesirable side effects of cardiorespiratory depression. Based on these major challenges, the system needs to newlineknow the correct amount of anesthetic drug to be infused to the patient based on the levels of conscious state by considering patient demographic data and his/her fitness while maintaining the other vital parameters. There are multiple parameters considered for closed-loop anesthesia delivery but the Bispectral index (BIS) is one of the important measures used to indicate the level of hypnotic states based on the drugs infused in closed-loop delivery system. This helps the researchers and practitioners to control the level of anesthesia and to automate the drug administration. The objective of this study is to demonstrate the closed loop anesthesia delivery (CLAD) system with patient safety measures through computer simulations. The proposed sy |
