dc.description.abstract | The study of Theatre and Phenomenology is based on the plays of Samuel Beckett (1907-1989), Eugene Ionesco (1909-1994), Badal Sircar (1925-2011) and Safdar Hashmi (1954-1989) under Maurice Merleau-Ponty s (1908-1961) framework of Phenomenology. The study attempts to analyse the plays of both the theatres within Phenomenological concern and also gives the in-depth study of these writer s works with the concrete examples from the selected works. Samuel Beckett and Eugene Ionesco are the dramatists of the Absurd Theatre and Badal Sircar and Safdar Hashmi belong to the category of the Indian Street Theatre. newlineTherefore, this study will also bring together the two different literary traditions of west and east which will help in making it a cross-cultural study. newline newline | |
