Abstract: | Taking into consideration the metamorphosis that is taking place in the newlinebanking sector since the submission of the first Report of Narasimham newlineCommittee(1991) ,the present study is designed to examine the performance of newlinenationalized banks before and after the release of their IPO s using CAMELS newlinemodel .Period of the study is taken from 1999-2011.During this period 10 newlinenationalized banks released their IPO;s. .So there are 10 banks under study newline.Banking sector reforms in India, strive to increase profitability, productivity newlineand efficiency of the banking institutions. The existing banking institutions has newlineto face the global competition. As a consequence, there has not only been rapid newlineexpansion in the number of banking institutions in the country, but the banking newlinehorizon of the country has also changed significantly with the entry of new newlineprivate sector and foreign banks. Nowadays, the country has (i) Public Sector newlineBanks (ii) Old Private Sector Banks (iii) New Private Sector Banks and (iv) newlineForeign Banks operating side by side and giving cut throat competitions newlineto each other. This study emphasis on the critical evolution of Indian banking newlinesector specially with reference to public sector banks This study is divided into newlinesix chapters. The first chapter describes the history ,overview of India banking newlinesector, various banking institutions in India. And reforms in banking sector. newlineThe second chapter focuses on the research methodology of the study. The newlinethird chapter describes the IPO.s of the selected banks under study. and their newlineperformance. The fourth chapter emphasis on .CAMELs Model and its rating. newlineThe fifth chapter describes comparative study performance of selected bank newlineunits under study. While sixth chapter shows summary findings and newlinesuggestions for present research study. newline |
