Abstract: Life of human beings passes through particular stages that are foetus, infant, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, old age and finally death. Among all these stages, adolescence is most important stage that demands proper care and protection. Adolescence is in between phase of childhood and adulthood having new problems which need new solutions. Actually adolescents are the wealth and future of a nation. Adolescents as the worthy citizens lay the foundation of a healthy society. They live in dreams and want the world to be the world of their dreams. They hate to hear No . They have to face many adjustment problems with themselves as well as with others. They have to suffer many stresses, academic stress is one of them. Education is that weapon which converts a man into a gentle man. Without it, there is little difference between an animal and a man. It works as a foundation stone for building an elegant society. Today globalization has shortened the world to a family. Mainly education helps in adjustment and progress in this family. That is why educationists are trying their best to harness the talents of students by channelizing their energy for making a society of branded humanity. Many factors affect the academic achievement of adolescents like emotional intelligence, academic stress and family environment. Review of related literature confirmed the researcher that there is a need to carry on research to compare the academic achievement of scheduled caste and non-scheduled caste adolescents in relation to their emotional intelligence, academic stress and family environment. newlineThe present study was conducted with students of government senior secondary schools from four districts of the state of Punjab. Sample of 600 adolescents was taken. Out of 600 adolescents, 300 were scheduled caste adolescents and remaining 300 were non-scheduled caste adolescents. Four variables, one dependent (academic achievement) and three independent (emotional intelligence, academic stress and family environment) were considered. newlineToo
