dc.description.abstractnewline Kalman filter theory has been extensively applied for tracking of objects, which is newlineof fundamental importance in both engineering applications and scientific investigations. newlineThe central problem in radar and sonar systems, optical telescopes, and infrared sensors newlineand a host of other active and passive seekers used in civil and defence applications newlinerequires updated information obtained continuously on the parameters that describe the newlinedynamics of such targets as satellites, missiles, aircrafts, ships, submarines, RPV s, and newlineother objects having a significant relative motion with respect to the sensor. newline Recent developments such as track-while-scan systems, phased array radar newlinetracking, airborne radar tracking, multitarget tracking, multisensor tracking, and newlinemultitarget multisensor tracking have not only increased the scope of tracking technology newlinebut also added new dimensions to it. newline Most of the tracking filter algorithms that have been developed for tracking an newlineaircraft or any space vehicle make use of radar position measurements only and the use of newlineradar Doppler measurements has not often been considered in the tracking process. It has newlinebeen established in principle that more accurate state estimates are possible by the newlineinclusion of radar Doppler data along with radar position measurements.
