Abstract: | In this work, the MPPT-PI controller optimized BAT algorithm for Landsman converter fed BLDC motor is designed and analysed, when subjected to partial shading condition of Solar Photovoltaic system. The main objective of the research work is to analyse the performance of the BLDC motor and Landsman converter when subjected to various optimization methods with partial shading condition. The research work starts with the design of a suitable solar panel which is experimented with uniform as well as partial shading conditions. The detail study of extracting maximum power is done. Out of various MPPT algorithm, Perturb and observe Method is used to calculate the maximum power of the PV array under partial shading conditions which is well defined in the thesis. Based on the available DC to DC converters, Landsman converter enhances the output power from the solar photovoltaic array and also it provides soft as well as safe starting of the controlled BLDC Motor. A VSI is interfaced between the Landsman converter and BLDC. A PI controller is included with MPPT for better voltage regulation of the output DC voltage of the Landsman converter under partial shading condition of the solar Photovoltaic module. v The Zeigler Nichols method of tuning the PI controller is carried out to calculate the Kp and the Ki values when the solar panel is subjected to partial shading condition. The proportional and integral gains initially obtained by Zeigler Nichols tuning and then by using the following optimization methods such as Bird Mating Optimization (BMO), Bumble Bee Mating Optimization (BBMO), Honey Bee Mating Optimization (HBMO) and BAT Optimization the performance of the Landsman converter and BLDC motor is studied. A comparative study has been done to analyse the performance of the BLDC motor with respect to the various optimization methods used. The design and simulation studies have been carried out using MATLAB/ SIMULINK. The output response justifies that BAT optimizer outperforms the other optimization methods in terms of performance of the BLDC motor speed and also the efficiency of the solar panel and Landsman converter. newline |
