Abstract: | In this thesis, study on reliability modelling of some stochastic process was carried out. To conduct this study, certain systems were identified which included general systems, safety critical system and industrial processes and their various reliability parameters were estimated. It consists of brief history, applications, concepts and quantitative measures associated with reliability estimation. It also includes brief summary about stochastic processes and lifetime distributions used for understanding reliability of a system. It lists the methodologies adopted to conduct the present study. It explains the concept of system configuration, series-system, parallel-system, combination of series-parallel-system, states of a system and a state transition diagram. The reliability modeling techniques used in the present study. Used a four-unit repairable system with three subsystems in series and one subsystem containing n components in parallel has been studied with specific focus to understand the effect of environmental failure on this system. The process of extracting gold from ores and other metals was studied to determine the system configuration in terms of its series-parallel structure for successful operation. The fire alarm system, which is a safety critical system, was identified to study its reliability. Two different two-unit parallel repairable systems were taken up for study. A metal sheet manufacturing plant was studied for estimation of its reliability parameters. A chocolate manufacturing plant was studied for reliability analysis. Two particular cases, which same as taken earlier for reliability analysis using BF technique, were taken for numerical computations and discussion. The change in profit per unit time (short-term) under both the cases were also discussed. newline |
